Three Migration Approaches

Depending on the complexity of your migration, we offer three unique approaches to the USA.NET Hosted Microsoft® Exchange or CMS solution. All implementation/migration approaches adhere to USA.NET's proven messaging service methodology and fully ensure that all users are operational on the USA.NET Hosted Microsoft Exchange solution.


Basic Migration Solution

The Basic Migration Solution is most often used by smaller organizations that do not require migration of existing mailboxes, email or data from a prior email system. The Basic Migration Solution provides complete setup of initial services, including:

  • Basic set up and implementation of the mailboxes.
  • USA.NET will provide a training session to the administrators on the Web-based admin tool.
  • Provide documentation on how to change the MX Record and provide assistance as needed on the MX Record change.
  • Outlook® ezProfile Wizard Configuration Tool — This tool eliminates the need for desktop touches in configuring the Outlook Client.


Standard Migration Solution

The Standard Migration Solution, also referred to as the "Flash-Cut" approach, handles the migration of messaging accounts and server data from existing email servers to the USA.NET hosted Microsoft Exchange environment in a single "flash" over an evening or a weekend. Tasks include several weeks of design, testing, support and all the components of Basic Set Up plus:

  • Implementation of the service with the support of a dedicated Professional Services Team Member for the flash cut migration.
  • USA.NET will provide a training session to the administrators on the Web-based admin tool.
  • Set up the mailboxes and provide documentation on how to change the MX Record and provide assistance as needed on the MX Record change.
  • USA.NET will provide a dedicated Professional Service team member who will help with the data (contacts, emails etc.) migration and provide appropriate support as needed.


Enhanced Migration Solution

The Enhanced Migration Solution is commonly called the "Phased" approach. It builds on the Standard Migration Solution and provides support for co-existence with the legacy email service to support migrating users over a period of time as well as the following:

  • Seamless Mail Routing to allow email to continue to deliver to any user regardless of whether they are migrated or not.
  • Consolidated Address Book to provide migrated and non-migrated users visibility to all staff again regardless of their migration status.
